These images are of and by Timorese children on TPV's in dec 99, just before they were sent back to a devasted timor with a bag of rice, 2 blankets and sheet of plastic.
I wouldn't take a picture unless they first took a picture of me. The series runs from left/right right/left through colour & traditional western/asian narrative.
I was doing some research into revolutionary utopia at the same time & read of the use of pnuematics as a celebration of that. The first ever balloon flight taken was to celebrate the french revolution, hence the bubble images.
This series follows on from a visit I made to East Timor in January 1998, the images of which will be found in this section.
